
The Sooke School District Board of Education, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Block as Superintendent/CEO effective January 1, 2024. Paul will continue his role as Deputy Superintendent until December 31, 2023 and work alongside Superintendent/CEO Scott Stinson to ensure a smooth transition in January.
This is a critical time for our school district as we grapple with unprecedented growth and increasing demands on the public education system. The Board of Education is confident in the leadership abilities of Paul to guide our district as we progress and mature as an organization. Paul’s accomplishments as an educational leader over the last thirty years in the Sooke School District will be an asset to students, staff, families and our region as a whole. His reputation as a relationship builder precedes him and he is well-respected by partner groups and community stakeholders alike. He is deeply committed to truth and reconciliation and has been a key figure in the Na’tsa’maht Enhancement Agreements since their inception in 2009.
He is a proponent of continuous learning, utilizing technology and tapping into the expertise of our community to guide, prepare and offer students choices to pursue their passions. His educational philosophy is deeply rooted in “putting kids first.” Paul will prioritize the important work of ensuring our learning communities are safe places where students, staff and families feel a sense of belonging. The Board of Education is grateful for his years of service and looks forward to Paul leading the Sooke School District as we continue along a strategic path of equity, inclusion and progress for everyone.
