We had the opportunity to celebrate and thank district employees celebrating years of service milestones and those who are retiring. The Long Service and Retirement Celebration is held annually to honor and share gratitude to employees of the Sooke School District.
“It is important that we take time to give recognition and celebrate our employees who have spent decades devoted to the children, youth and families in our district,” said Amanda Dowhy, interim chair of the Sooke School District. "No matter what their role is in our district, they are instrumental in the success of our students.”
A reception was held on Wednesday evening at the Olympic View Golf Club for employees celebrating, 25, 30, or 35 years of service or who will be retiring this year. The evening featured remarks from Interim Board Chair Amanda Dowhy, CUPE 459 President Amber Leonard, and members of the district Executive team.
