The Sooke Lions will present 7 bursaries to students going on to post-secondary education who have exhibited strong community and/or school involvement and may require financial help.

Sooke Harbourside Lions Club offers two bursaries:
The Sooke Autism Support Society (SASS) Ambassador of Inclusion Scholarship is open to any graduating student at EMCS who has demonstrated an enthusiastic commitment to promoting the positive inclusion of those with special needs at home, at school and/or within the community.
Amount of the scholarship may vary from year to year.
Selection criteria:
1) for students starting post-secondary studies in BC/Yukon on a full time basis for at least two consecutive semesters
2) good marks
3) school and community involvement
With your application, include proof of acceptance in a post-secondary program.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Awarded in two portions: the first $1000 will be awarded to the selected recipient following graduation and proof of acceptance at a recognized post-secondary institution AND registration in courses. The second $1000 will be presented after successful completion of the first year of studies and proof of enrollment in second year.
The student must be registered in a program of at least two years with plans to complete a degree.
This scholarship is for students entering a vocational program at a recognized college, university, trade, or technical institute. A “vocational” program is an educational program directed at a specific occupation. examples: nursing, professional cook, social work, hair stylist, web design, interior deign, medical office assistant, video game design, ...
Selection Criteria:
1) must be planning to pursue a trades/apprenticeship training program in BC
2) resident of Sooke
3) financial need
Jane Thomson Memorial Bursary is for students pursuing a trade or apprenticeship program. This bursary honours the first female President of the Rotary Club of Sooke.

Selection Criteria:
1) an SD62 graduate pursuing studies in the field of forestry at a post-secondary institution (degree, diploma or trades). Consideration may be given to students pursuing post-secondary studies in fisheries or other natural resource management related fields.
2) Preference will be given to Indigenous students.
3) strong leadership qualities

The Kathy Kirk Memorial scholarship is awarded to one deserving student from Edward Milne Community School who has demonstrated that they wish to continue their studies of music.
The amount of the award may vary from year to year. It is the intent of the scholarship committee that the scholarship will be paid annually in the amount of $250, but may vary from year to year, depending on interest accrual.
In the event that no one meets these qualifications this scholarship will not be given out, and funds held for successive years.
The Diane Dawson and Maywell Wickheim Bursaries of $500 are given each year to recognize students whose attributes, accomplishments and activities exemplify the philosophy of a community school.
Academics will be considered in selection, however the main requirement is being a well-rounded individual who volunteers with the school, community, and other groups.
Financial need is also a consideration.
